Saluting their Service Exhibition

The Barossa Regional Gallery will be hosting an exhibition of photographs and oral history stories from military veterans who served in all theatres of war from and including WWII and their widows/widowers.

This exhibition arranged by The Emu Tree's, Christian Teusner appeared during SALA last year and this year and was highly popular. Apart from a huge collection of photographs of those who served, the oral histories may be listened to on-site or at any other time online here.

The exhibition will be held from Saturday, 18 September 2021 daily until Sunday, 26 September 2021 between 11 am and 3 pm on all days.

Funding for the exhibition was provided to our Sub-Branch by the Department of Veteran's Affairs and your committee partnered with The Emu Tree to undertake the project on our behalf.

It's been very successful with dozens of oral histories recorded and hundreds of original photographs provided by veterans and their families.

It's a must-see, so tell your friends and family and visit during the above times.

The Military Shop

Military Shop
The Military Shop that incorporates the Navy, Army and Airforce Shops is offering excellent discounts as I write and has offered to provide our club with a commission for any sales made from our site using this link.

The link also appears on the right-hand side of this site.

There are some very generous discounts being offered at present because of the pandemic disruptions. It's a good time to update your kit of memorabilia, add some new gear, or to arrange some presents for family and friends. Remember, if you buy, please do so through one of our links.

Don't Miss this Event

The RSL - A Time to Celebrate

Emu Tree's Christian Teusner is holding a number of displays across the state, one of which is a SALA event at Ayres House, Adelaide from 28 August until 5 September on Saturdays and Sundays between 10 am and 3 pm.

The displays are an extensive photographic exhibition featuring images submitted by veterans and their families.

There are also hundreds of hours of oral histories submitted by veterans and war widows you can listen to using headphones provided at the display sites or here where they are stored as podcasts.

These images and recorded histories were captured by Christian last year and this year as a result of "Saluting their Service" grants provided to our sub-branch by the Department of Veteran's Affairs.

Christian has done an excellent job capturing historical media that will be preserved in Australia's Military Archives for future generations.

Further information about Christian's displays schedule will be posted here in the near future.

The Hut is Open!

Happy Hour is back on track following our most recent lockdown.

Every Friday we open for Happy Hour and on alternative Fridays we have a two-course meal for $10 first-come, first-served.

We call the meal a "Mystery Meal" because we never know until the evening what it will consist of.

Our meals come from the Tanunda Lutheran Home kitchen and the good news is that there is always something nice to eat. Nobody ever complains!

A range of beverages is available at very good prices, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic.

You could be part of this happy group and we look forward to you joining us soon.

Attendees will be expected to comply with whatever government COVID-19 requirements are in force at the time.
