Management Committee Meeting

---- We open most Fridays from 5 pm. Meals on the first Friday of the month ----
The Management Committee consisting of 11 members, two of whom were newly elected at our 2022 Annual General Meeting in November, will meet on Monday, 13th February 23 for the first time this year.

Your committee meets every second month to discuss numerous issues relating to the efficient and effective running of the Club.

At this meeting, one of the key agenda items is preparing for ANZAC Day 23. Although it's a one-day event, preparing for it and similarly Remembrance Day takes a lot of work and requires a lengthy lead time.

We also plan and carry out two major fundraising activities at pop-up kiosks outside Foodland Tanunda preceding ANZAC Day and Remembrance Day and three sausage sizzles at Mitre 10, Nuriootpa.

During 2022 we held two highly successful Fashion Parades in conjunction with Lambert Estate and Dressed4Success.

Everyone on the committee is a volunteer, we have no paid staff and do not receive any financial assistance to run the club, our expenses are all covered by donations as we are a not-for-profit organisation. Fortunately, other members who are not on the committee assist us with fundraising and commemorative activities.

If you are interested in volunteering for any of our activities, please contact us.

The names of our committee members may be found here.

Vietnam War Memorabilia Available

The Military Shop with whom we are affiliated has created a special range of memorabilia to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the ending of the Vietnam War.

They have also produced their 2023 Catalogue from which our committee members select memorabilia for us to sell before ANZAC and Remembrance Days.

Because of the vast range of memorabilia available, there are numerous products that we do not purchase, so what you see in The Hut and at our Foodland, Tanunda sales point is a small reflection of what is available from the shop.

If you are interested in viewing the Military Shop Collections (Navy, Army, Air Force), or downloading the 2023 Catalogue, please click here - Military Shop or at the link in the right-hand column of this page.

Any purchases you make after using these links will accrue a small commission for RSL Tanunda.

Commemorating the End of the Vietnam War

Tomorrow marks 50 years since the 1973 proclamation of the end of Australian involvement in the Vietnam War.

RSL Tanunda
Minister for Veterans’ Affairs Matt Keogh said 11 January also marks the beginning of the official Vietnam 50 commemorations for 2023. “More than 60,000 Australians served in Vietnam, over 3,000 were wounded and 523 lost their lives in the longest conflict Australia was involved in during the 20th Century,” Minister Keogh said. “This was a war that was at times contentious at home, and for some veterans their service not recognised as it should have been.

“In December we marked the 50th anniversary of the Whitlam Labor Government’s end to the last National Service scheme in Australia and the anniversary of the withdrawal of the Australian Army Training Team in Vietnam. “The Australian Government is honouring those who served, and throughout this commemorative year will specifically recognise and honour the service and sacrifice of Vietnam veterans and their families,” Minister Keogh said.

All Vietnam Veterans and National Servicemen, even if they were not deployed, are eligible to claim through the Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA) and entitled to a White Card that includes mental health support. DVA will recognise this significant anniversary through a broad awareness campaign throughout 2023 including a documentary series to be screened on the ABC, and providing historical and educational resources to schools, ex-service organisations and community groups. This will culminate in a national commemorative service on Vietnam Veterans’ Day, 18 August 2023, in Canberra, recognising the service of all Australians who served in the Vietnam War and honouring the sacrifices that they and their families made.
