I recall unloading the 18 aluminium caskets containing our troops after the Battle of Long Tan at the Air Movements Section, RAAF Richmond when the Hercules brought them home.
We were all crushed at the number which we hadn't seen before at one time. It was a dark day for us and I remember nobody spoke much and it was very solemn.
